We-B Centre.com is the research arm of the School of MIS at the Edith Cowan University (ECU) Western Australia. The Centre provides a structure for University academics to conduct research, educate and train, and conduct various consulting activities in e-business related fields. This was their website for a number of years.

 We-B Centre.com has grown out of a need to investigate various aspects of e-commerce and e-business; in particular, helping organisations to operate more efficiently, informing organisations of the experience of others to enhance their prospects for success and improving their profits through improved communications and expansion of services and products to the global marketplace.

The School of Management Information Systems has invested considerable resources to develop our expertise in the area of electronic commerce and electronic business. A number of research projects have been initiated in areas related to e-commerce and e-business and are described on this website.

2nd Australian Computer, Network & Information Forensics Conference 2004

Background:

The 2nd Australian Computer, Network & Information Forensics 
Conference (ACNIFC) 2004 will be held on Thursday, November 25th at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle, Western Australia. 
Hosted by the We-BCentre, School of Computer Information Science and School of Management Information Systems, ACNIFC 2004 aims to bring together IT managers, system and network administrators, security specialists, academics, security solutions vendors, practitioners and anyone interested in:

Nota Bene: I used to run a small wholesale importer business in the vape market. We had seen multiple daily attempts to hack our site, emails, anything stored online. But more threatening is the fact that page one of the Google searches for our brand carries news items that were actual health warnings related directly to our products. Catastrophic for business if that remains there! When this first started, there was only one bad story in the search results. At that time we engaged a service that could remove negative search results from Google. They used search engine optimization to make harmless webpages outrank the problem search so it appeared to drop lower until it fell off of the first page. It was an incredible success. Until the avalanche of similar new items hit. When that happened, no way could we afford to clean up the search results. We got buried and bailed. specialists in e-Business and related fields. 

Conference theme:

The conference theme in 2004 is "Enterprise Value from e-Business" and papers are expected to cover a wide range of relevant topics, with the conference again drawing participants from national and international organizations.

To facilitate the organization of topics and events at the conference, it is expected that submissions will be grouped into seven separate major tracks/streams:

Hosted by the We-BCentre, SCIS and the School of MIS, InfoSec 2004 aims to provide an opportunity for sharing and networking among academics and industry specialists in Information Security Management, and related fields.

Conference theme:

The theme of the conference is "Securing the Future" and will attract participants from national and international organizations.
To facilitate the organization of topics and events at the conference, it is expected that Submissions will be grouped in separate major tracks with papers invited in the following areas, but not limited to:

The theme of the conference is "From Information Warfare to Information Operations". 
To facilitate the organisation of topics and events at the conference, it is expected that Submissions will be grouped in four separate major tracks:

  • Defensive IO
  • Offensive IO
  • Network Centric and Effects Based
  • Social Implications of IO

Each track will comprise mini tracks arranged according to submissions received and interests expressed. Best papers will be put forward for publication in the Journal of Information Warfare.

2005

Annual e Business Planning Competition


The We-B Centre and the School of Management Information Systems in conjunction with the ECU Live! Careers Expo, is running its annual “e Business Planning Competition” on Sunday 1 st May at the Joondalup Campus. 
On the day, 3 rd year Undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Business, e Commerce will be presenting their e Business Planning ideas. These presentations afford organisations the opportunity to experience first hand, the development of new e business ideas.

Information Communications Technologies are becoming an integral part of every day life. These technologies will continue to evolve as new ideas take the place of old. Those with the ability to understand, develop and implement these ideas will secure a long term satisfying future. Come along to the MIS e Business Planning Competition and see how good ideas can become great.
